CVE-2024-42296 is a vulnerability in the Linux kernel's f2fs filesystem code where the function f2fs_convert_inline_inode() incorrectly returns zero instead of EROFS when the device is read-only. This can cause a kernel panic during the writeback of an inline inode's dirty page. The issue has been fixed by correcting the return value to EROFS in such scenarios.
