The issue occurs because the function ca8210_spi_transfer() allocates memory (cas_ctl) but does not free it if the spi_async() call fails, leading to orphaned allocations under sustained SPI bus contention. This leak can cause resource exhaustion over time. The fix involves freeing the allocated memory on the error path of spi_async() and correcting an error message.
