CVE-2024-42089 is a medium-severity vulnerability in the Linux kernel's ASoC fsl-asoc-card driver. The issue arises because the priv->pdev pointer is used before it is set, leading to a potential NULL pointer dereference. This occurs in the fsl_asoc_card_audmux_init() function when accessing the device structure for error reporting. The flaw has been fixed by moving the assignment of priv->pdev to the start of the probe function to ensure safe usage.
