A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's memory management subsystem involving huge page memory handling has been resolved. The issue was in the function change_non_present_huge_pmd(), which incorrectly rewrites a writable device-private PMD swap entry into a readable one without preserving the pmd_swp_uffd_wp() bit. This omission allows a mprotect() operation on a UFFD_WP-marked device-private transparent huge page (THP) to strip the protection bit, bypassing the userfaultfd write-protect trap on swap-in. The fix aligns this behavior with other related kernel functions to correctly preserve this bit.
