Splunk Enterprise versions below 10.4.2, 10.2.6, 10.0.9, and 9.4.14 contain a vulnerability where users without admin or power roles can move readable files into a lookup they control. This allows unauthorized access to data and can impact system integrity and availability on the search head. The issue arises because the lookup configuration endpoint does not properly resolve lookup source paths before validating their location within the allowed staging area.
