A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's amdxdna subsystem involved incorrect handling of error paths in the amdxdna_insert_pages() function. The flaw caused premature resource release leading to reference count underflow when the virtual memory area (VMA) was later unmapped. This was fixed by changing the error handling to defer faults and retry page insertion properly, preventing double calls to vm_ops->close().
