A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's nvdimm/btt component related to lane acquisition has been resolved. The issue involved a race condition due to improper handling of preemption in BTT lane locking, which could lead to silent data corruption during BTT writes. The previous spinlock and recursion count model was inadequate because BTT lanes became preemptible, allowing concurrent access to the same lane. The fix replaces the spinlock with a per-lane mutex and adds checks to prevent atomic-context misuse.
