A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's s390/dasd driver was resolved where a failed ESE read was incorrectly marked as successful. This caused stale or uninitialized memory to be handed to the block layer instead of zeroed data. The issue was due to the dasd_int_handler() function completing a failed NRF read as successful without properly checking the ese_read() return value. The fix involves checking the return value and failing the request through the normal error path. Join the discussion | GCVE Database | 09/11/2026, 21:31:26 UTC Added: 09/12/2026, 00:43:15 UTC |
