A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's NTFS implementation related to validation of non-resident attribute offsets has been resolved. The function ntfs_attr_update_meta() improperly handled attribute name offsets when converting between non-sparse and sparse attributes, potentially causing out-of-bounds writes or corruption. Validation was missing to ensure that the name_offset was within safe boundaries and that sufficient space was available for additional fields during conversion. This could allow a malicious MFT record to cause memory corruption. Join the discussion | GCVE Database | 09/11/2026, 21:31:33 UTC Added: 09/12/2026, 00:42:52 UTC |
