The vulnerability allowed a malformed filesystem image to specify an oversized lcns_follow value, leading to out-of-bounds memory access during a memmove operation. This could result in memory corruption and potential escalation of impact. The fix involves computing a maximum valid lcns_follow based on the validated restart table entry size and rejecting entries that exceed this bound.
