A vulnerability in the Linux kernel tracing subsystem was resolved that could cause a kernel crash. The issue occurs when event_test_stuff() calls kthread_run() to create a kernel thread but does not check for errors. If kthread_run() fails and returns an ERR_PTR error pointer, passing this pointer unconditionally to kthread_stop() causes a kernel crash. The fix adds a check of the kthread_run() result before calling kthread_stop(), preventing the crash and logging a warning if thread creation fails.
