The issue occurs in the i_ipmi_request() function when a caller provides a supplied_recv message. If an error happens, the reference count is not properly decremented, causing a permanent leak. This flaw was addressed by explicitly reverting the reference count operations in the error path when a supplied recv_msg is present.
