The flaw allowed a specially crafted broadcast STATE_MSG to carry a Gap ACK record with inconsistent length fields that passed internal consistency checks but exceeded the actual message data size. This caused the kernel to read beyond the allocated buffer when copying the record, triggering a slab-out-of-bounds error detected by KASAN. The fix ensures the broadcast path properly bounds the record size and discards malformed messages, preventing the out-of-bounds read.
