A vulnerability in the Linux kernel cpuset subsystem could cause a division by zero error during memory policy rebinding triggered by CPU hotplug events. This occurs when a child cpuset is created without setting cpuset.mems, leading to a faulty mempolicy rebind operation. The issue has been resolved by changing the code to use a guaranteed non-empty nodemask for memory policy rebinding.
