A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's memory management subsystem related to the damon_pa_migrate() and damos_va_migrate() functions has been resolved. The issue occurs when an invalid target NUMA node ID (nid) is used during page migration, causing folios to remain isolated and not returned to the Least Recently Used (LRU) list. This results in pages being pinned and memory accounting inconsistencies. The fix ensures folios are properly put back on the LRU even when migration requests specify invalid target nodes.
