In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: dm: avoid leaking the caller's thread keyring via the table device file The… (CVE-2026-72103)CVE-2026-72103 0 A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's device-mapper (dm) subsystem caused the caller's thread keyring to be retained longer than intended, leading to a failure in wiping the LUKS volume key from memory during a suspend operation. This allowed a copy of the volume key to remain recoverable in RAM after a suspend, contrary to expected behavior. The issue was introduced by a refactoring commit and has been resolved by restoring the previous behavior where the thread keyring copy is promptly garbage collected. The fix ensures that only one copy of the volume key remains and is properly wiped on suspend. The vulnerability requires CAP_SYS_ADMIN privileges to exploit and affects the kernel's handling of cryptsetup luksSuspend operations.
