CVE-2024-46828 is a vulnerability in the Linux kernel's sch_cake queuing discipline related to bulk flow accounting logic for host fairness. The flaw involves incorrect decrementing of bulk flow counters during hash collisions when host fairness is disabled, which can cause a counter wrap-around leading to an array out-of-bounds access when host fairness is later enabled. This issue can result in high impact including confidentiality, integrity, and availability compromises. A patch has been issued to fix the conditional decrement logic to prevent this overflow.
