A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's overlay filesystem (ovl) was resolved that caused a double call to end_creating() on a casefold-mismatch path in ovl_create_real(). This double call leads to unlocking a lock twice and dropping a reference twice, which can wedge subsequent directory creations under the affected parent directory. The issue arises from incorrect handling of casefold consistency in the internal work subdirectory, allowing an unprivileged user to trigger this condition.
