The issue involved improper handling of negative current limit values passed to the ltc4282_write_curr() function, where a signed long negative value was cast directly to an unsigned 64-bit integer, causing incorrect large positive values. This led to an overflow and truncation in a 32-bit variable, resulting in the current limit being clamped incorrectly to the maximum limit instead of zero. The fix clamps the value to zero and the maximum supported limit before casting and division to prevent underflow and overflow.
