CVE-2024-42299 is a vulnerability in the Linux kernel's NTFS3 file system driver. It occurs when an NTFS file system is mounted on a system with a different PAGE_SIZE than the original system. The log structure's page_size changes during log replay, but related fields page_mask and page_bits are not updated accordingly. This mismatch can cause a kernel panic due to a negative value calculation in read_log_page().
