A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's gpio qixis-fpga driver was fixed by correcting error handling in the devm_regmap_init_mmio() function. The function returns an ERR_PTR() on failure, but the original code incorrectly checked for NULL, which would never occur, potentially causing an invalid pointer dereference and resulting in a denial of service. This issue has been addressed by using proper error checking macros IS_ERR() and PTR_ERR().
