The flaw allowed a reply with an unknown transaction ID (XID) and an inflated credit grant to cause excessive allocation and posting of receive work requests, potentially exceeding configured limits. The fix moves the credit clamp earlier in the processing flow to ensure all consumers see a sanitized credit value.
