CVE-2024-42284 is a high-severity vulnerability in the Linux kernel's TIPC subsystem. The function tipc_udp_addr2str() did not return a non-zero value on invalid UDP media addresses, which could lead to a buffer overflow in tipc_media_addr_printf(). This flaw has been fixed by ensuring tipc_udp_addr2str() returns 1 on invalid addresses, preventing the overflow.
