A high-severity vulnerability in the Linux kernel related to BPF (Berkeley Packet Filter) pointer handling has been resolved. The flaw allowed writes through untrusted BTF (BPF Type Format) pointers by bypassing the intended read-only policy. This was due to the check_ptr_to_btf_access() function permitting program-type btf_struct_access callbacks to validate writes before the default BTF access path could reject non-read accesses. The fix enforces rejection of non-read accesses through untrusted BTF pointers at a common entry point, preventing unauthorized write operations.
