A vulnerability in the Linux kernel related to the sparc architecture has been resolved. The issue involved inaccurate exception reporting in the copy_from_user and copy_to_user functions for UltraSPARC III processors. Specifically, a BUG_ON in ext4 code with large folios was triggered due to copy_from_user returning values larger than the size to be copied, causing __copy_from_iter to return impossible values. The root cause was improper masking of register %o2 during the bulk copy loop in exception handlers. This flaw affected the correctness of return values in fault cases but did not change memcpy behavior. Join the discussion | GCVE Database | 11/12/2025, 12:30:27 UTC Added: 07/30/2026, 15:50:46 UTC |
