A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's IPv6 Route Information option length validation was resolved. The function rt6_route_rcv() incorrectly validates the length of the Route Information option against the prefix length, allowing out-of-bounds reads of up to 8 bytes past the option's end. This can cause the kernel to include unintended data in the IPv6 route prefix visible to userspace. The issue arises because the length checks are off by one compared to RFC 4191 requirements. The fix rejects option lengths not allowed by the RFC.
