A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's svcrdma component was fixed to address an out-of-bounds read caused by improper handling of chunks with zero segments. The issue occurs when a chunk's segment count is zero, leading to an underflow in pointer arithmetic and subsequent memory access beyond the intended bounds. This can cause a general protection fault. The fix changes the iteration bounds to correctly handle zero-segment chunks, preventing the out-of-bounds access without requiring caller changes.
