In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: dm log: fix out-of-bounds write due to region_count overflow The local variable… (CVE-2026-53059)CVE-2026-53059 0 A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's device-mapper log component (dm_log) was identified and resolved. The issue arises from an out-of-bounds write caused by an overflow in the region_count variable due to truncation of a 64-bit division result to a 32-bit unsigned integer. This leads to insufficient memory allocation for bitsets and subsequent kernel heap memory corruption during log operations. The flaw can cause kernel crashes when handling very large device-mapper targets with small region sizes. The vulnerability has been fixed by widening the region_count variable to 64 bits and adding an explicit overflow check.
