In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ALSA: pcm: oss: Fix setup list UAF on proc write error snd_pcm_oss_proc_write()… (CVE-2026-64001)CVE-2026-64001
0

A use-after-free (UAF) vulnerability in the Linux kernel ALSA pcm oss subsystem was resolved. The issue occurs in snd_pcm_oss_proc_write() where a newly allocated setup entry is linked into a list before the task name is duplicated. If task-name allocation fails, the entry is freed but the list still points to the freed memory, leading to potential dereferencing of freed memory during later OSS device opens. The fix involves allocating and initializing the setup entry fully before linking it into the list and adjusting locking to ensure consistent list traversal.
