MONAI version 1.6.0 contains a vulnerability in its PersistentDataset component where the combination of track_meta=True with weights_only=True is explicitly rejected, forcing users to load cached MetaTensors without the weights_only flag. This leads to deserialization of pickle files from a shared or world-writable cache directory, allowing a local user with write access to place malicious pickle files that can execute arbitrary code when loaded by another user.
