CVE-2024-45029 is a medium-severity vulnerability in the Linux kernel's tegra i2c module on ACPI machines. It occurs because a mutex is called inside a spinlock context, which is invalid and causes a kernel BUG due to a sleeping function being called from an improper context. The root cause is that during runtime power management resume, a spinlock is held before calling a function that uses mutexes, violating locking rules. The fix involves marking ACPI devices as not IRQ-safe to prevent this improper locking sequence.
