The issue involved the failure to free allocated mlx5_st_idx_data structures when the last reference to a steering-tag (ST) table entry was dropped. This caused the kernel memory allocator slab to grow over time under workloads that repeatedly allocate and release memory keys with TPH steering-tag hints, such as churning RDMA memory regions.
