A vulnerability in the SSL/TLS certificate parsing component of the Snort 2 Detection Engine within Cisco Secure Firewall Threat Defense (FTD) Software allows an unauthenticated remote attacker to cause the detection engine to restart. This results in a denial of service (DoS) condition. The issue arises from incomplete validation of SSL certificates, which can be triggered by sending a crafted SSL connection setup request. The vulnerability has a medium severity rating with a CVSS score of 5.8.
