A previously undocumented Windows loader designated as OXLOADER delivers the CASTLESTEALER infostealer through malicious Google Ads campaigns, achieving remarkably low detection rates. The loader employs multiple obfuscation layers including control-flow flattening, opaque predicates, and mixed Boolean-Arithmetic techniques, along with self-modifying decryption stubs and abuse of the Windows .reloc section for shellcode staging. Distribution occurs via malvertising impersonating Node.js installations, redirecting victims through intermediary domains to Storj-hosted batch scripts. The loader implements five anti-VM and language checks, including CIS-region and Russian-language exclusions, suggesting a financially motivated Russian-speaking threat actor. OXLOADER uses DonutLoader to deliver the .NET-based CASTLESTEALER payload in memory, evading traditional detection mechanisms through deliberate engineering choices.

A financially-motivated cybercrime cluster designated CL-CRI-1089 has launched Operation FlutterBridge, deploying FlutterShell backdoor malware targeting macOS systems through malvertising. Built with the Flutter framework, FlutterShell masquerades as legitimate applications including podcast players and PDF viewers, delivering adware with full backdoor capabilities such as shell command execution and file system manipulation. The malware uses a WebView-based architecture with JavaScript-to-native bridge, allowing attackers to dynamically modify behavior without recompiling. Distribution occurs through hundreds of Google-verified advertisements controlled by shell companies including AdsParkPro LTD and Advantage Web Marketing LLC. The campaign primarily targets Anglophone and Western European markets. All samples were signed with valid Apple Developer IDs and successfully passed notarization, achieving zero detections on VirusTotal initially. The malware hijacks Google Chrome browsers, redirecting traffic ...

A large-scale malvertising campaign targeting U.S.tax form searchers has been uncovered. The attack chain begins with Google Ads, using dual commercial cloaking services to evade detection. Victims are directed to rogue ScreenConnect installers, leading to a multi-stage crypter that ultimately deploys a BYOVD (Bring Your Own Vulnerable Driver) tool. This tool, named HwAudKiller, exploits a previously undocumented Huawei audio driver to terminate antivirus and EDR processes from kernel mode. The campaign's sophistication lies in its use of commodity tools and services, combining free-tier ScreenConnect instances, off-the-shelf crypters, and a signed driver with an exploitable weakness. The attackers consistently deploy multiple remote access tools on compromised hosts for redundancy, indicating a likely pre-ransomware or initial access broker operation.

A new attack technique called InstallFix targets users by cloning popular developer tool installation pages and presenting malicious install commands. Attackers distribute these fake pages through Google Ads, exploiting users' trust in familiar 'curl to bash' installation methods. The campaign specifically targets Claude Code users, delivering the Amatera Stealer malware. This technique bypasses email security controls and exploits the growing trend of non-technical users adopting developer tools. The attack leverages legitimate hosting services and is part of a broader trend targeting AI-related tools. The payload uses staged execution and various evasion techniques to avoid detection.

Operation Poseidon is a sophisticated spear-phishing campaign attributed to the Konni APT group. The attackers exploit Google Ads redirection mechanisms to bypass security filters and user awareness. They compromise poorly secured WordPress sites for malware distribution and C2 infrastructure. The campaign uses social engineering tactics, impersonating North Korean human rights organizations and financial institutions. Malware is delivered through LNK files disguised as PDF documents, executing AutoIt scripts that load EndRAT variants. The attackers employ advanced evasion techniques, including email content padding and abuse of legitimate advertising URLs. The campaign demonstrates evolving tactics and infrastructure reuse consistent with previous Konni activities.

A recent scam involves fake Tesla websites advertised through Google paid ads, targeting potential customers interested in preordering the Optimus robot. These fraudulent sites mimic Tesla's official website design and offer non-existent preorders for various Tesla products, including the Optimus robot. The scam aims to collect $250 non-refundable deposits and potentially steal credit card information. Multiple fake domains have been identified, with some already taken offline. The fraudulent sites lack login functionality and may redirect users to fake authentication pages. Tesla is likely monitoring and requesting takedowns of these sites. The scam exploits the anticipation surrounding Tesla's future products and may go unnoticed until expected delivery dates.
