Cybercriminals are conducting phishing campaigns by hosting malicious pages on Vercel, a legitimate website hosting platform. The attack involves sending phishing emails with links to fake Adobe PDF viewer pages that prompt users to download executable files disguised as documents. The malware, distributed as Invoice06092025.exe.bin, automatically installs LogMeIn remote access software upon execution, enabling attackers to remotely control compromised machines. Over a two-month period, more than 28 distinct campaigns have been observed targeting over 1,271 users. The attackers leverage trusted platforms to disguise their malicious activity, making detection more challenging and increasing the likelihood of successful compromise.

Netskope Threat Labs has identified multiple phishing campaigns exploiting video conference invitations from Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and Google Meet. The attackers use fake meeting invites to trick users into downloading malicious payloads disguised as software updates. These payloads are actually legitimate, digitally signed remote monitoring and management (RMM) tools like Datto RMM, LogMeIn, or ScreenConnect. By leveraging these tools, attackers gain administrative remote access to victims' machines, potentially leading to data theft or further malware deployment. The campaigns use convincing phishing pages that mimic legitimate video conferencing platforms, exploiting users' urgency to join scheduled calls. This sophisticated approach allows attackers to bypass traditional security measures and establish a persistent foothold in corporate networks.

A phishing campaign has been identified that exploits Vercel, a legitimate frontend hosting platform, to distribute a malicious version of LogMeIn. Cybercriminals send phishing emails with links to a malicious page on Vercel, impersonating an Adobe PDF viewer and prompting users to download a disguised executable. Once executed, the malware installs and connects to a LogMeIn server, allowing remote access and control of the compromised machine. Over 28 distinct campaigns targeting more than 1,271 users have been observed in the past two months. The technique's effectiveness stems from the use of a legitimate platform, a genuine remote access tool, and social engineering tactics. Recommendations include monitoring suspicious Vercel subdomains, educating employees about fake support scams, and implementing strict controls for remote access software installations.
