The autotel-mcp npm package contains malicious code identified as the Miasma malware, a self-propagating worm that spreads through the npm registry by abusing weaponized binding.gyp files to execute during package installation. This malware attempts to exfiltrate credentials and OIDC tokens for cloud and registry services and propagates by compromising other packages or committing backdoors to GitHub repositories. The package is considered fully compromised, and any system with it installed should be treated as compromised. Immediate secret and key rotation is recommended, and removal of the package alone may not eliminate all malicious software.
