OctLurk and SilkLurk: new Backdoors in Central Asia 0 OctLurk and SilkLurk are two newly identified backdoors targeting government and related organizations across Central Asia since January 2025. These backdoors use heavily obfuscated loaders customized per victim and deploy multiple plugins for command execution, file manipulation, credential harvesting, keylogging, network scanning, and remote access. The campaigns affect a wide range of sectors including healthcare, research, government offices, ministries, law enforcement, and education. The attackers use additional tools such as LurkProxy, PlugX, Impacket, FSCAN, and Pandora FMS agents. The threat actor is Chinese-speaking but not conclusively attributed to a known group.
