A heap-buffer-overflow vulnerability exists in the H5MM_xstrdup function of the hdf5 library, as reported by OSS-Fuzz. This issue causes a read overflow of 5 bytes, leading to a crash in specific internal functions related to symbol table lookup. Multiple specific versions of hdf5 are affected. No CVSS score or known exploits in the wild are reported.
