Operation QUICSILVER: China-Nexus Actor Targets Myanmar Diplomats via VHD-Delivered Go Backdoor 0 Operation QUICSILVER is a targeted malware campaign by a China-nexus threat actor against Myanmar government personnel and diplomats. The attack uses Virtual Hard Disk (VHD) files disguised as JPEG images and Burmese-language lures impersonating Myanmar's Information Technology and Cyber Security Department. The infection chain involves a malicious LNK file that abuses ftp.exe to execute scripts, reconstruct payloads, and deploy a custom Go-based backdoor called QUICAgent. This backdoor communicates with its command and control infrastructure via Cloudflare Workers over HTTP/3 using the QUIC protocol and employs RC4 encryption. The campaign was active between April and July 2026 and shows interest in ASEAN affairs, BIMSTEC, and Myanmar diplomatic activities.
