An integer overflow vulnerability exists in the sqfs_resolve_symlink function of Das U-Boot before version 2025.01-rc1. This occurs when processing a crafted squashfs filesystem with an inode size of 0xffffffff, leading to a malloc of zero bytes and a subsequent memory overwrite. This flaw can cause U-Boot to crash or potentially allow arbitrary code execution. The issue affects multiple Ubuntu package versions of U-Boot and has been assigned CVE-2024-57255. A patch is available to address this vulnerability. Join the discussion | GCVE Database | 02/18/2025, 23:15:00 UTC Added: 08/26/2026, 15:02:06 UTC |
