A use-after-free vulnerability in the Linux kernel's ALPS touchpad driver (dev3_register_work) was fixed. The issue arises from a race condition during device detachment where delayed work may execute after the associated data structure has been freed. This could lead to memory corruption and potentially allow an attacker with local privileges to compromise system integrity and confidentiality. The vulnerability affects specific linux-aws kernel versions prior to 6.17.0-1012.12~24.04.1, 6.17.0-1013.13~24.04.1, 6.17.0-1018.18, 6.17.0-1020.20, and 6.17.0-22.22~24.04.1. A patch is available that properly cancels the delayed work to prevent use-after-free conditions. Join the discussion | GCVE Database | 01/13/2026, 16:16:00 UTC Added: 07/18/2026, 11:31:00 UTC |
