0 CVE-2026-105241 is a medium severity vulnerability in Apache log4net's SmtpPickupDirAppender component. It involves improper handling of Unicode encoding, where unpaired UTF-16 surrogates cause the mail file writer to throw an error. This results in discarding all buffered events in the batch and potentially leaving truncated mail files in the pickup directory. The vulnerability affects applications using SmtpPickupDirAppender in log4net versions from 1.2.9 up to but not including 3.5.0. Upgrading to version 3.5.0 resolves the issue.
