A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's mlx5e network driver could cause a system crash when attempting to change network profiles if a rollback fails. This occurs because the function mlx5e_netdev_change_profile may fail to attach a new profile and also fail to rollback to the old profile, resulting in a dangling network device with a reset private data structure. Subsequent attempts to change the profile can then crash the system due to null pointer dereferences. This issue has been fixed by improving error handling in the profile change function to avoid accessing invalid pointers.
