A heap out-of-bounds write vulnerability was discovered and resolved in the Linux kernel's USB/IP subsystem. The issue occurs when a USB/IP client receives a RET_SUBMIT response with a manipulated number_of_packets value larger than originally submitted, causing out-of-bounds writes in urb->iso_frame_desc[]. This flaw was confirmed by KASAN testing on kernel version 7.0.0-rc5. The vulnerability has a high CVSS score of 9.8 and affects multiple Linux kernel versions prior to specific patched releases. A patch is available and included in updated Linux kernel packages. Users are advised to update and reboot their systems to apply the fix.
