A high severity vulnerability in the Linux kernel's xfrm subsystem was resolved. The issue involved improper handling of device references during asynchronous crypto operations, leading to a race condition with device teardown. For other exit paths and async return points, the reference is released inline when async is set. This prevents use-after-free scenarios and potential kernel crashes or privilege escalations.
