phpseclib versions prior to 1.0.29, 2.0.54, and 3.0.52 contain a vulnerability related to improper limitation of object identifier lengths when parsing ASN.1 data. This flaw can lead to excessive resource consumption, resulting in a denial of service. The issue is a bypass of CVE-2024-27355 and has been addressed in the specified fixed versions. Multiple Ubuntu package versions are affected, and patches are available via Ubuntu security updates.

phpseclib, a PHP secure communications library, did not properly limit object identifier lengths when parsing ASN.1 data in versions prior to 1.0.29, 2.0.54, and 3.0.52. This vulnerability (CVE-2026-44167) can be exploited by an attacker to cause excessive resource usage, leading to denial of service. The vulnerability is a bypass of a previous CVE (CVE-2024-27355).
