A memory leak vulnerability in the Linux kernel's 802.1Q VLAN egress QoS mapping implementation was resolved. The issue involved the vlan_dev_set_egress_priority() function retaining cleared egress priority mappings as tombstones, causing accumulation of mapping nodes and memory leaks during repeated set/clear cycles. The fix deletes mappings when vlan_prio is cleared, safely unlinking and freeing nodes after a grace period. This vulnerability affects multiple Linux kernel versions prior to 7.0.0-28.28 and related builds. The issue has been patched and updates are available from Ubuntu and other Linux distributors.
