A use-after-free vulnerability in the Linux kernel's heterogeneous memory management (HMM) selftests was fixed. The flaw occurred because device private pages were not migrated back to system memory before freeing a structure, leaving dangling pointers that could cause kernel panic during subsequent faults. This issue was reported during testing on ARM64 architectures. The vulnerability has a CVSS score of 7.8 and affects numerous Linux kernel versions prior to 7.0.0-27.27.
