Ubuntu Linux kernels 6.8, 6.17, and 7.0 contain AppArmor patches with improper validation of an internal structure size, causing an out-of-bounds read during notification handling. This flaw can be triggered by an unprivileged local user and may lead to disclosure of kernel memory. The vulnerability is part of a broader set of Linux kernel security issues addressed in Ubuntu advisories USN-8370-1 and USN-8371-1, which include fixes for privilege escalation, information disclosure, resource exhaustion, kernel oops, memory corruption, and denial of service related to AppArmor and other subsystems. A patch is available and users are advised to update and reboot their systems to apply the fixes.
