A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's SysV IPC checkpoint/restore path allows allocation of IPC IDs beyond the valid range due to an open-ended upper bound in id allocation. This can cause stale IDR entries and dangling pointers, leading to potential memory corruption when accessing /proc/sysvipc/shm. The issue arises because ipc_idr_alloc() does not limit allocations to the maximum allowed IPC ID range (ipc_mni).
